The voice of the fans
Southampton FC came to Brazil when they wanted to give something back to their loyal following. After coming up with a social strategy for engagement and community building, we set to work on building the club’s Facebook community.
Not only did we build bespoke apps and team with up famous people to initiate the buzz of the launch, a Facebook programme brought together the biggest unofficial fan pages, and interacted with them to attract even more followers to the Southampton FC page. We also managed to give away sections of the pitch to the fans – a prize money can’t buy.
Within the first two weeks, we hit more than 10,000 likes – with hundreds of tweets and shares – and after three months the Facebook page had exceeded 30,000 likes. 91% of Facebook users on the page entered the competition, so it clearly struck a chord with loyal Southampton fans!
